Cliff & Tony Energy is in the final stages of the Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) and Rate of Rise of Recovery Voltage (RRRV) studies for the selection of 400kV line circuit breakers and Ferranti studies for a renewable power plant to be located in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. Cliff & Tony Energy executed the scope on behalf of Proconics for its client.
Voltage regulation and Ferranti studies were conducted on the lines looping in and out of the renewable power plant substation to determine the need for line shunt reactor. An outline of the activities performed include
The objective was to ensure that adequate breaker ratings are selected based for the prospective TRV and RRRV and to establish if any mitigation solutions are required for the 400kV line circuit breakers, and establish the need for the line shunt reactor
